FAQS

Vision Scott is an annual program that brings together people from across the community to grow as leaders while they learn more about themselves, others, our local community, government, and State of Louisiana. Participants will share experiences that may push them beyond their traditional thought process, while providing them a safe environment to be enriched as an individual and leader. Upon graduation, these leaders will be equipped to assist our community in prospering, growing, and thriving with confidence.

Ideal applicants will either live, work, or own a business in the City of Scott or the surrounding community, or be a member of Envision Scott. Applicants must be willing and able to commit to the mandatory retreat and the time necessary to complete the program. All applications are reviewed and participants selected by the Vision Scott Committee, which endeavors to seat a class diverse in gender, ethnicity, and industry that reflects the different groups of people within the Scott community.

Graduates leave the program better informed of community history and present-day realities. They also emerge better connected to the people, organizations, and service opportunities that can together make positive and meaningful changes in the City of Scott.

Tuition for Vision Scott is $500. This covers the cost of program materials, meals when provided, travel when provided, awards, and the necessities to run the Vision Scott program.

The annual program runs from February through October. Orientation occurs in February and monthly sessions occur on the last Thursday, March through September. The program concludes with graduation on the first Tuesday of October at the City of Scott’s Business Appreciation Dinner. Applications are typically available beginning in October, with a submission deadline in December.

Session times run approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and may start earlier or run later. Some sessions are full days and others half days. Locations vary by topic but are primarily in Scott; lunch is included for full-day sessions, tours of some facilities are included, and out-of-town travel for the day may also be included.

Only two session absences are permitted to graduate.

Applicants are expected to become active participants in advancing the Scott community and making a positive contribution to the City of Scott post-graduation. Graduates may serve as session leaders or join the Vision Scott Committee for the following year’s class, and are brand ambassadors for the City of Scott.

We anticipate a class of approximately 15 individuals.

Dress for most sessions is business casual. We will communicate any exceptions for a certain session (for example, closed-toe shoes or more casual dress for an activity).
